We are a proud supporter of the charity Nurse Lifeline

Nurse Lifeline: A lifeline on the phone line

As a community of healthcare professionals, we understand the significant emotional and mental challenges that come with being a caregiver day in and day out. That’s why we are proud to announce we are a supporter of Nurse Lifeline, a registered UK charity focused on improving nurses’ and midwives’ mental health, emotional well-being, and resilience.

Nurse Lifeline arose out of the pandemic. It was founded by a group of compassionate and inspirational front-line nurses who recognised a critical need to support their peers. These individuals are deeply connected to the healthcare sector and have witnessed firsthand the immense pressure and emotional toll on nurses.

As a peer-to-peer model, Nurse Lifeline is a free service designed to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for the nursing, midwifery and wider care community to decompress with like-minded professionals united by a common experience and shared understanding of what the callers are going through.

Services offered: They are here for you

Nurse Lifeline offers a range of services designed to cater to the diverse needs of our health and care community:

  • Peer-led support phoneline: ‘run by nurses and midwives for nurses and midwives.’ Call 0808 801 0455 any weekday evening from 7pm – 10pm if you’d like someone to listen and need a safe place to offload. This service is confidential and anonymous.
  • Email support: If you prefer to write, you can email them at alex@nurselifeline.org.uk and one of the team will get back to you as soon as possible.
  • Mental health resource library – via social media, their blog and online – providing well-being tips and signposts to other mental health support communities. Learn more at Resources | Nurse lifeline and follow Nurse Lifeline on social media @Nurselifelineuk.
  • Speakers: Availability of experienced nurses and midwives to speak at universities and events to spread awareness of their cause and to support specific discussion topics that may be potentially triggering, such as bullying and harassment in the workplace. Get in touch via email ops@nurselifeline.org.uk.

Their vision

Their ongoing vision is to have a world where every nurse and midwife is nurtured and supported, enabling them to provide exceptional care with compassion and resilience. In listening, they acknowledge, validate, encourage and empower – no issue or concern is too big or too small.

As Nurse Lifeline continues to grow, the charity remains committed to expanding its reach and services. Future plans include increased outreach efforts, more extensive training for volunteers, and nurturing partnerships with like-minded charities, healthcare institutions, foundations, and corporations to continue improving mental healthcare support and helping more individuals in need.
