We’re thrilled to announce Karen Ko has joined Florence as our new Chief Financial Officer.
A KPMG-trained chartered accountant and Oxford graduate, Karen comes to us with over 15 years’ experience including roles at tech startups Pleo and Babylon Health.
At Babylon, Karen served as Director of Finance – Strategic Planning and was pivotal in navigating the company through its IPO process.
Karen’s vision and passion for Florence
Karen is enthusiastic about the future of Florence: “I want to work at Florence because of the product and the people. Florence’s staffing app addresses a real need in helping the health and social care sector fill shifts quickly and efficiently. The app is easy to use and provides transparency for all parties. Our team is constantly thinking of new features to improve our user experience.”
Karen also has a personal connection to the healthcare sector, fuelling her commitment to Florence’s mission. “My husband is an anaesthetic & intensive care consultant, and I have always been very aware of how much strain the health and social care system is under. I’ve seen many times where they’ve had to call around to fill last-minute rota gaps, and I thought there must be a better way to manage this. Florence solves this exact problem with transparency and efficiency in mind, and I want to be part of this mission.”
Future goals and commitment
Karen’s goals for her new role at Florence are clear. “I want Florence to grow and continue to serve more and more customers’ needs. My focus will be on supporting the team that continues building on the right financial priorities, and ultimately contributing to Florence’s long-term positive impact on the health and social care sector.”
Charles Armitage, CEO of Florence, expressed his excitement about Karen joining the team. “We are incredibly excited to welcome Karen as our new CFO. Her extensive commercial finance experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow and innovate in 2024 and beyond. Karen’s passion for our mission and her personal connection to healthcare make her a perfect fit for Florence, and we look forward to achieving great things together.”
